About Us
Independence Waste was opened on October 1st, 1993 by Kay and Peter
Kramer in Elk Point, SD. At the time Kay was working for Gateway and Peter was working for MCI. Both were looking for a change from their corporate jobs when Peter found an old garbage truck in a field. He and Kay decided to buy the truck and rebuild it. They started their business with two customers and worked from their home.
The Kramers now operate the only full-service waste hauling service in the
tri-state area. This includes commercial and residential garbage service, carts and dumpsters, roll offs, and compactors. They have three roll off trucks, six rear-load packer trucks, and three portable toilet trucks. They service areas including: Sergeant Bluff, portions of Sioux City, North Sioux City, Jefferson, Hawarden, Chatsworth, rural Akron, and portions of Vermillion. They also have many private customers in the tri-state area.
Independence Waste is run by a team of people that work like a well-oiled machine including: Sherri Bousquet (accounts payable/dispatcher), Burton Mason (office manager), Cindy Bandza (data entry/dispatcher), and Aaron Keuck (operations/sales manager). There are also fourteen drivers on staff.
"Our success is based on our service to our customers. Customers are number one. We pride ourselves on our customization of our services that we offer to our customers.
